Jean-Michel di Falco Leandri, Bishop of Gap and Embrun and President of the European Episcopal Commission for Media (CEEM), anticipated that a booklet containing some information on “the media available to Bishops Conferences and their structure is being prepared" while he was presenting the results of a European survey conducted by the Council of European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE) on "the Church and the media". "The secretary of the CCEE is aiming at creating the first book listing the names of the people in charge of communication in the Catholic Church in Europe as well as the media belonging to the Bishops’ Conferences. The idea is to present this book on the next CEEM plenary assembly". This is concerning the media available for Bishops’ Conferences use, but what is the priority in national and lay information? What kind of news do you give emphasis to? "We usually focus on the most important moments in the Pontiffs’ lives (death of John Paul II, Pope Benedict’s election, Apostolic Journey of the Pope in a certain country) and in the life of the local Church (election of a new bishop, opening of a Church)," said Mgr.
