(From SirEuropa correspondent in Esztrgom Hungary) – "I am thinking of the many people who have suffered in this country and in the communist countries because of torture and persecution, and I am thinking of those people who have experienced martyrdom". With these words, commenting on the passage from Job’s Book, card. Christoph Schönborn spoke last night to the cardinals, bishops and devotees who were in the basilica of Esztgorm, near Budapest, at Mass for the closing of the first day of the plenary assembly of the Council of European Bishops Conferences (Ccee). The experience of Job, who, "exasperated by the burden of sufferings does not want to live any more and whose only hope is death", explained the cardinal, reminds us of the "release that comes from Jesus’ death", and, looking at the countries oppressed by communism, such as Hungary, reminds them to "find in the Cross the answer to so much suffering". An answer of "hope and life", certainly not one of "desperation and death". With reference to the communist oppressors, car.
