A fasting day in favour of the people suffering from AIDS in Mozambique: 3rd October is the "Fast Day" in England, traditional solidarity appointment promoted by CAFOD, the most important British Catholic charity organization for aids to the Third World. On the occasion, parishes, schools and associations will mobilize. They will set up frugal meals based on cheese and biscuits, coffee after Mass, sponsored walks, times for prayer, and interventions during the Mass in which the representatives of CAFOD will explain the work of the association as well as the initiative. The spokesperson of the Fast Day 2008 is Celina, a young woman from Mozambique who has to take care of her whole family after her parents became seropositive. "This story is meaningful; it represents the work we do by collaborating with local projects in the Third World said a spokesperson of CAFOD to SIR -. It is a real story and we helped Celina through our local partner, Cedes". The Fast Day, together with the Lent fast day, is the most important CAFOD event for collecting funds. Last year, the collection was made for Zimbabwe, it yielded 1.85 million pounds: about 2.32 million euros, 1.6 million from parishes and the rest from schools. 1.5 million pounds, about 1.8 million euros were collected at Lent.
