Public incitement to committing deeds of terrorism, recruiting and training for terrorist purposes. These are three crimes for which the European authorities are seeking regulatory harmonisation across the EU. The problem will be addressed today by the European Parliament, which is gathered in its plenary meeting in Brussels. It will also address the third "sea package". In the meantime, the majority of MEPs subscribed a statement which thus becomes the official position of the Assembly asking the member states to "recognise the fight against children trade as an objective priority in their national child protection policies". The document states that children trade "is still a persisting problem", "with over two million children a year being traded for forced labour and sex exploitation". The document asks for more across-the-border cooperation between police and justice. The MEPs also signed a statement proposing to proclaim August 23rd (the date the Molotov-Ribbentrop agreement between the Ussr and Germany was signed in 1939) "European Memorial Day for the Victims of the Crimes of Stalinism and Nazism", "so as to preserve the memory of the victims of mass deportations and exterminations".
