Continuing his considerations to the newly-appointed bishops, Benedict XVI added an exhortation: "Moving on along the way to holiness, you will express that essential moral authority and that prudent wisdom that is required of those who are placed at the head of God’s family. Such authority is more necessary than ever now". Then, he explained that "your ministry will be pastorally fruitful insofar as it rests on the holiness of your life: the bishop’s authority states the Pastores gregis is born of the testimony, without which the devotees can hardly see in the Bishops the operative presence of Christ in His Church". At the end of his speech, Benedict XVI invited the bishops to take care of "two things": firstly to take care of the priests, and secondly of the young, saying: "Never forget to propose to the young the choice of fully giving themselves up to Christ in priestly and religious life; raise the awareness of the families, the parishes, the educational institutions, that they may help the new generations look for and discover God’s design on their life".
