"The challenges we have to face are really very many. That’s why, along with an appropriate doctrinal and pastoral training, we increasingly feel the need of a deep spirituality", but "we also feel the need to spread the culture and spirituality of unity within the Church and an increasingly sympathetic communion between the bishops". It was stated this morning in the Vatican by the Secretary of State, cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, in the homily he said for the meeting of the bishops ordained over the last few months who will meet Benedict XVI on September 22nd. According to the Secretary of State, "God’s Word invites us" to "build and feed the communion within the Church". Commenting a passage from the letter to the Corinthians, card. Bertone pointed out that Paul highlights that "the variety of ministries and the plurality of charismas contribute to the unity of the Church. Therefore the Church is not a monolith, but a lively unit, able to harmonise every function, charisma and ministry and steer it towards the common good". (continued)
