ITALIAN CATHOLIC MISSIONS: EUROPEAN CONFERENCE IN LYONS FROM 15TH TO 21ST SEPTEMBER

The delegates of the Italian Catholic Missions (MCI) in Europe will meet in Lyons, France – from 15th to 21st September –, for a workshop called "In diversity, processes of sharing and solidarity". The goal of the conference is to try to understand what it means to "be in Europe, share an anthropological grammar and work together for the common good". The promoters of the initiative intend to "give a contribute to the reflection on the economic, social and cultural phenomena that people, families and communities are experiencing in Europe. "Social exclusion, poverty, inequality, injustice" are actually growing, they explain. Social and citizenship issues – they add – take therefore "a new centrality, affected as they are by the problems of the rising mobility, both old and new, which impacts on intercultural and inter-religious contexts, which one must dialogue with and address". The initiative will be composed of two events, a training part and a conference proper, and has been preceded by a number of national meetings. The initiative is promoted by the MCIs of Germany, Switzerland, Benelux, France and England, in cooperation with Fondazione Migrantes, Inas–Cisl and Fai-Acli.” “About 2,500,000 Italians have migrated to other European countries.” “
