Yesterday, with a celebration at the Anglican Church in Geneva, about 40 press agents and directors of communication of the main Anglican, Protestant and Orthodox Churches officially opened the "Ponec", the "network of press agents of the European Churches". Work to open this organisation went on for two days from 5th to 7th September in Geneva, to outline its purposes and working methods. The final release explains that the network is supported by the Council of European Churches (Kek) and is open "to all those who work as directors of communication within the European Churches and Christian organisations". The final release speaks of the "role of the professionals of communication of the Churches as of a calling" and specifies that the purpose of Ponec is to be a place to "exchange experiences" and encourage "the leaderships of the European Churches to invest in the dimension of communication". In addition, Ponec aims "to make the voice of the Churches and the ecumenical movement be heard more loud and clear in Europe, through the media of the Churches, the lay media and the European institutions themselves". In addition, Ponec will be Kek’s liaison with its counterpart, the current Catholic network of press agents of the European Bishops Conferences (Ccee).
