MIGRATION: CCEE MEETING IN VIENNA ABOUT AFRICAN MIGRANTS IN EUROPE

” “About thirty delegates, including bishops, experts and national directors of migration, from 21 European Bishops Conferences (Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Bosnia Herzegovina, International Bishops Conference of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Croatia, France, Germany, England and Wales, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Hungary, Ukraine) will meet in Vienna (Austria) from September 12th to 14th. The meeting will also be attended by delegates of the Holy See, Comece, Caritas Europa and Icmc (International Catholic Committee for Migration). The meeting has been promoted by the Council of European Bishops Conferences (Ccee). The subject to be addressed is "African migrants in Europe and within the Church: pastoral responsibility". "The purpose is to examine – states a release from Ccee that has been published today – the African continent and its forms of expression in history, culture, religion and society. The picture will be completed by a number of testimonies-experiences about political refugees, asylum seekers, and young people who leave their country to study abroad". Every participant will speak of the situation in different European countries. Then, they will discuss pastoral responsibilities for the Church. A final release will be handed out at the end of the conference.
