” “A delegation of the World Church Council (Wcc) left for Russia and Georgia where from 3rd to 7th September it will have a number of meetings with the members of the Churches belonging to the Wcc. The purpose of the trip reads a release published today is to "encourage the peacemaking efforts, visit the refugees and make sure the aids schemes of the Churches are carried out in the region". "We hope states Eleonora Giddings Ivory, a member of the delegation this visit will encourage the Christians of the two countries to maintain their relations and pray for one another. If the Christians of Georgia and Russia manage to prevent the ditch between their countries separating them, they will be able to help their governments opt for a peaceful solution to the conflict." The delegation is planning to meet the leaders of the Russian and Georgian Orthodox Churches. Another purpose of the trip is to check the trend of the humanitarian aids provided by the international body of the WCC, "ACT". The delegation is headed by the metropolitan bishop Nifon de Targoviste of the Orthodox Church of Romania. One member of the group is Jean Arnold De Clermont, president of the Conference of European Churches.
