EU Parliament: Brexit and the priorities of Slovakian presidency at the EU in Strasbourg

(Strasbourg) One more political-inspired week for the European institutions, which will be dealing with Brexit and its consequences. This week, the EU institutions will meet in Strasbourg for a plenary session of the European Parliament (4-7 July). The MEPs will discuss the conclusions of the European Council of 28-29 June, when the leaders of the member states spoke of the result of the British referendum to leave the European Union and decided that “there will be no negotiations whatsoever, until the United Kingdom formally notifies its intention to leave”. Tomorrow, the European Parliament will host a debate between the MEPs with the president of the EU Council, Donald Tusk, and the president of the EU Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker. On Wednesday morning, the Slovakian Prime Minister, Robert Fico, will be at the European Parliament to illustrate the priorities of the Slovakian presidency of the EU Cabinet, which will go on until December 31st. Slovakia will be chairing the Cabinet for the first time since it joined the European Union in 2005. It has announced four priorities: “Economically strong Europe, modern single market, sustainable migration and asylum policies, globally-committed Europe”.
