Attack in Nice: Hollande, “France stronger than those who hit it”. Obama, our full cooperation

“France is grieving at this new tragedy, it is horrified at what happened, at the monstrous deed of those who used a lorry to kill, to deliberately kill dozens of people who only wanted to celebrate 14th July. France has been hit hard, it is grieving, but France is strong and it will always be stronger, you can be sure of that, than the extremists who want to hit it today”. With these words, the president of France, François Hollande, immediately reacted to last night’s terrorist attack in Nice. With a message to the nation, he called the country to be united and confirmed that France is full committed to fighting terrorism. In the night, messages of condolence arrived to Paris from European and international leaders. The first one who contacted the President of France was the president of the United States, Barack Obama: “In the name of the American people, I harshly condemn what seems to be a horrible terrorist attack in Nice, France, which killed and injured dozens of innocent civilians. I ordered my staff to keep in touch with the French authorities and I offered my help to investigate this attack and bring the offenders to justice. Our prayers – Obama then wrote in a message – go to the victims’ families and we wish the injured ones may recover soon. We express our solidarity and sympathy to France, our oldest ally”.
