An appeal for children “never to be enslaved in any way, abused or recruited in armed groups”: it was made by the Pope, before addressing Italian-speaking believers, concluding Wednesday’s appointment in St. Peter’s Square as usual. “Next Sunday, 20 November, the World Day of Children’s Rights will be celebrated”, said Francis: “I appeal to the conscience of everyone, institutions and families, for children to be always protected, and their wellness defended, for children to be always free from any kind of slavery, without ever being recruited in armed groups, or mistreated”. “I hope that the international community will be able to watch their lives, granting every child the right to school and education, letting them grow up serenely, so as they may look at the future with trust”, concluded the Pope.
