“Lay people for development”
In the attempt to drive lay young people aged between 21 and 40 to join volunteering projects in Africa, the Catholic organisation “Lay people for development” organised a training course called “There is a walk to take together”, due at the Padre António Vieira University Centre (Cupav) in Lisbon on March 17th at 9.30 pm. The release, with which the initiative has been announced, points out that on that day “the programmes will be effectively displayed, the volunteers’ profiles will be outlined, and the training plans of each mission will be announced”. At that public meeting, young applicants can not only “enquire about all the details, they can also talk with the volunteers who have taken part in previous projects”. The new missionary training course will then start on March 31st so that anyone interested can actually leave for their African destinations as early as September and October 2017. The NGO “Lay people for development” has been working for 30 years “in support of the integral and integrated growth of Portuguese-speaking countries” and is currently promoting missionary projects in Angola, Mozambique, Sao Tomé and Príncipe, and even in Portugal, especially in training and education, development and community organisation, entrepreneurship and employment.
