” “"The 20th World Youth Day in Cologne, with the slogan "We are here to worship Him", must drive young people at the dawn of the new millennium to reflect on the most topical issue of their lives: who to worship? Christ or today’s idols that the secularised world offers aplenty? The only Lord or the myriad fetishes of pseudo-religions?": this is the opinion of Mgr. Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, Moscow’s metropolitan bishop and the president of the Russian Episcopal Conference in the run-up to the World Youth Day due next August. While even from Russia a good number of young people is getting ready to leave for Cologne (they are said to be about one hundred), Mgr. Kondrusiewicz launches an appeal to these young people: "Oh young generation of John Paul II, under the guidance of Benedict XVI, say no to temptations and to moral relativism, choose Christ, the only Saviour, who gives hope against all hope!".
