” “At the 20th World Youth Day in Cologne intellectuals from all over Europe will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the Polish movement Solidarnosc, which contributed towards bringing back democracy to Poland. This will be held on 16th August in Bonn during a meeting with the speeches by Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn, who will speak about the ethics of social development in the Roman Catholic Church; by Krzysztof Bobinski, founder of Solidarnosc; by Kathy Sinnot, Irish MEP, who will tackle the delicate issue of solidarity with regard to minors, women and the disabled. 100 Young people representing 25 countries will be taking part. "The peaceful victory of Solidarnosc over communism by using the strength of culture inspired our action", explained Emilia Klepacka, European director of the World Youth Alliance (WYA), a global coalition formed by over one million people from around 100 States, whose objective is to promote the dignity of individuals, solidarity and the culture of life. At the end of the meeting a declaration on solidarity will be drawn up and presented to Benedict XVI, and will be used during the forthcoming conferences of WYA at the United Nations and at the European Union.
