XX WYD: ARCHITECTURAL BARRIERS PULLED DOWN IN COLOGNE

” “This World Youth Day will have no architectural barriers for the disabled. Allowing mobility-impaired pilgrims to take part in the event is one of the aims of the organisers who have provided assistance and transport. The means developed to pull down the architectural barriers include: a central hotline service, a line offering exhaustive information and news to disabled pilgrims. The hotline service will operate from August 15th to August 21st, from 8 am to 6 pm, by calling 004922149200581. Hearing-impaired people can also use a fax number (00492214920057). Then, there are service points set up in the central stations of Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf. These are information points which can also provide temporary assistance. Finally, the service centres located in the centre of Cologne, Bonn, Düsseldorf and Marienfeld will offer information on temporary assistance, transport, wheelchair repairs and rentals. Other initiatives include: the reading of the pilgrim’s book in the sign language.
