XX WYD: THE EUROPEAN FORUM IN SUPPORT OF CRIME VICTIMS IS ALSO IN COLOGNE

” “"Stop crime time" is the title of a brochure being distributed at the Info Points set up in Cologne for the 20th World Youth Day whose celebrations started yesterday with the twinning of German dioceses, and which will continue until August 15. The initiative is promoted by the European Forum for aid to the victims of crime that operates in many Countries including Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Holland, Portugal, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland and the United Kingdom. "The WYD – the promoters of the Forum state – is a journey of faith and a multicolour event. And crime, which reaps many a young victim, is also varied in form. Violence – they affirm -should not be used to reach a goal. This is why solidarity and helping crime victims is becoming ever more important". The young participants in the WYD will find a series of web site addresses in the brochure that is distributed at the Info Points, with lots of information about the initiatives that are promoted with this aim. The "Weisser ring" (White Ring, info: tel. 0049/1803/343434) which receives contributions from more than 2,700 persons, is particularly active in Germany. Their special focus is the prevention of acts of violence in the schools and among youth.
