Among the voluntary workers who entered the Cathedral to pray, was Heather Lannin, a nurse from Liverpool, who is 39 years old, together with her friend Karolina, 20 years old from Poland. Lannin was at the last WYD in Toronto, but on that occasion she did not manage to be a voluntary worker: instead this time she succeeded. "It is a privilege she said to be among the 25,000 voluntary workers at this great venue". Also Lannin, still traumatised by the London attacks, prayed for there to be no problems during the WYD: "I believe these kind of venues can be a tool in the hands of God to build a better world with the contribution of young people". Another Polish friend remained in Liverpool and is continuing to pray there. "This communion of faith is beautiful commented Karolina which is formed also among those who are far away".
