XX WYD: A GREAT FEAST IN AQUISGRANA TODAY, THE TOWN OF CHARLEMAGNE "EMBLEM OF EUROPE"

Today is a great feast day in Aquisgrana (Aachen) for the young people participating in the WYD. Some 14,000 pilgrims from France, Brazil, Columbia and Italy and from all the surrounding towns of this great and historic diocese will be gathering in the centre of town to conclude the four-day twinning event that included cultural visits, social engagement, animation and moments of prayer. Stages have been set up in four different spots of downtown where starting from 10 a.m. concerts, recitals and dancing will take turns in entertaining the pilgrims. At 5 p.m. the appointment for everyone is at the stadium for the celebration of the Eucharist presided by Msgr. Heinrich Mussinghoff, Bishop of Aquisgrana. A meeting place for the youth is the World Youth Café, (open since 12 August) where the pilgrims can use the Internet, make friends, receive information, sing and play. (continues)
