XX WYD: A "GLOBAL VILLAGE" IN BONN FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE UNIVERSE AND RENEWABLE ENERGY

” “A big wooden church operated by solar energy, information booths on how to build solar panels on one’s own, how to use the power of wind, water and the biomass, a fair-trade bar serving alcohol-free drinks only, a radio station and a website kept up to date on the WYD throughout the event: this is the Global Village that has been set up in Bonn, at Beethovenalle, by the German Catholic Rural Youth Movement (Kljb), a big meeting place for the protection of the universe and renewable energy open from August 15th to August 21st. "Climatic changes, the rise in oil prices and the wars for raw materials – explained the promoters – show how important it is to have systems operated by the energy of the sun, the wind, the biomass, for our future". All the young people taking part in the WYD are invited to the Global Village where a big party with music and shows is due on August 17th at 6.00 pm.
