"All boys and girls have wings to fly high". This was said this morning by mgr. Joseph Werth, bishop of the Church of Novosibirsk (Siberia), during the catechesis to Russian-speaking boys and girls in the church of the Sacred Heart in Cologne. "We need witnesses to show us the way to go, in our human and spiritual journey". The bishop said: "My teachers at the seminary have been essential in my life. In particular, I remember one who, just a few days before dying, sent me a Christmas card with a picture of the three Wise Men in which he had written I should follow the example of the Eastern Wise Men all my life". Mgr. Werth recalled, as one of the witnesses of the last century, frère Roger, who was murdered yesterday, John Paul II and Paul VI. "Learn to follow positive examples continued the prelate as he spoke to the young and to pray, especially when you cannot find an answer to the questions about meaning that you ask yourselves". The WYD, continued mgr. Werth, "is a way to help you young people to find your way and never leave it again: be so brave as to look deep into your hearts and into your minds because your wings are there".
