XX WYD: THE ASSASSINATION OF FRÈRE ROGER. BIANCHI (BOSE), A SPIRITUAL MODEL FOR THE YOUNG

"Every time I met frère Roger, it was a precious gift for me". This is the comment of Father Enzo Bianchi, the prior of the Bose Community and a great friend of frère Roger since 1965, to the tragic assassination of the founder of the International Ecumenical Community of Taizé. "His death – said Father Bianchi to Sir – is shocking news that touches me deep down. He was certainly one of the most charismatic men of the second half of last century. A Christian man, with a passion for Christ. A man with a vision. The first one who somehow started the Youth Days, by founding the Young Council in the Seventies". For Father Bianchi, "the enigmatic and violent death of frère Roger is the crowning achievement of a life spent for the Church and the poor of the world. Through him, I can say I have met a saint: certainly all the people of my generation and the next ones will already feel poor without this great witness of Christ". (to be continued)
