XX WYD: AN INHABITANT OF COLOGNE: THESE YOUNG PEOPLE HAVE BROUGHT COLOUR TO THE CITY. I AM PROUD THE POPE IS GERMAN

Katerina Mann, 67 years old, born and always lived in Cologne, moved forward among a group of Polish participants at the WYD to reach Line 3 of the Underground.  She said: "I have never seen my city so lively, colourful and animated. These young people, who arrived here from distant countries, are company for me. They sing; they sit in the middle of squares; they besiege public transport……Cologne is certainly chaotic these days. However, I am happy just the same. I am not a believer, but am proud the Pope is German. I also hope to see him these days, but if this will not be possible, I will follow him on TV”.
