XX WYD: CATECHESIS. MGR. MIRDITA (ALBANIA), YOU ARE THE FIRST REAL GENERATION TO HAVE BEEN BROUGHT UP IN CHRISTIAN VALUES

” “"You are the first real generation to have been brought up in Christian values, being here is for you one further opportunity that you are given to exchange opinions with the others on the values of our religion". These are the words of mgr. Rrok Mirdita, archbishop of Durazzo-Tirana, to the Albanian boys and girls who are taking part in the XX World Youth Day, during the catechesis held in Cologne today in the parish church of San Maryen. The archbishop invited the youth to "send the Christian message to those who have no faith, by bearing witness to it in their daily lives". This WYD is also focussed on ecumenism, and the archbishop spoke of the importance of the experience of the "Bible Society", an association founded four years ago, which brings together Catholics, Protestants and members of the Eastern Orthodox Church in Albania, and which is working at a text of the Holy Writ, recognised and shared by the three Christian denominations.
