"Today we have to use the language of the beauty of faith to be understood by the world, which is often indifferent". Even more, to speak to the young with whom one communicates by trying to tell true stories, to get into their problems. My main concern is to speak a language that everyone can understand". These are the words of mgr. Antonio Augusto Dos Santos Marto, bishop of Viseu, Portugal, who used an informal style in his catechesis with the about 300 Portuguese and Brazilians boys and girls gathered this morning in the church of St. Pius in Cologne. Yesterday, he had met another 400, small groups from the about 5,000 Portuguese boys and girls who have come to the WYD. Mgr. Viseu is at his first WYD as a bishop and is enthusiastic about this "Feast of Faith", which stands out for "the joy and ebullience of the young". In his catechesis, he highlighted the value of the Eucharist as an expression of beauty. "The strategy of the Church to speak to the world he said , to go back to basic, i.e. to go back to Christ alive and arisen from the dead, to show the beauty of our faith. The challenge is to notice the discreet and silent presence of God amidst the many idols of modernity".
