XX WYD: THE YOUNG IN MARIENFELD FOR THE VIGIL AND THE LAST CELEBRATION

” “Today and tomorrow, the World Youth Day will move to Marienfeld, "Mary’s field". The field, which used to be an open-pit brown coal mine, was named after a statue of the Virgin made of French sandstone and dated 1420, which is now in the Church of the Assumption in Frenche. The appointment for the young in Marienfeld is at 12, when some artists will open the event. Then, the Light of the peace of Bethlehem will arrive, which will be given to all attendees, so that they may bring it home in memory of the three Wise Men, who, following the star, arrived at the grotto. At 8.30 pm, the vigil will begin, which will consist of two parts: the Vespers, with the entrance of the WYD Cross and the icon of the Virgin, and the Eucharistic Adoration, with the Feast of Light. Musical accompaniment will be provided by an Indian group and by a group from the Ghana, while the devotees’ prayers are written by the young. The intentions will be taken to the hill in seven transparent containers, meaning they are not hidden but shared by everybody. The number seven is equal to three, the Trinity, plus four, the cardinal points. The praises will be sung tomorrow at 7, and the last Eucharist of the WYD will be celebrated at 10 am.
