XX WYD: THE MARIENFELD MASS. BENEDICT XVI, SHOW YOU WANT TO STRIVE FOR A BETTER WORLD (2)

"Those who have found Christ – continued the Holy Father – must bring others to Him. A great joy cannot be kept for oneself. One has to pass it on". Yet, noted the Pope, "in large parts of the world, God has strangely fallen into oblivion. It seems everything works out fine even without Him, but at the same time there is also a feeling of frustration, of dissatisfaction with everything and everyone". It ensues that, along with the oblivion of God, "everything religious is enjoying a boom". "Quite often – underlined Benedict XVI – religion becomes almost a sort of commodity. People choose what they like and someone can also make a profit out of it. But a religion sought in this "do it yourself" manner, at the time of crisis, leaves us to our own devices". Hence the invitation to the young: "Help men find Jesus and let’s try ourselves to get to know Him better so we can convincingly lead the others to Him". After recommending the young to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church and its abridged version, the Pope invited them to "set up communities based on faith. Movements and communities have been founded over the last decades in which the force of the Gospel speaks up brightly", but it is also important "to maintain communion with the Pope and the Bishops", to ensure one is living in the "big family of God".
