A European competition about "Refugees in Europe" open to journalism students: this is the initiative promoted by the European Jesuit Refugee Service (Jrs, a Jesuit organisation with branches in 50 countries) which is open to all wanna-be journalists of the countries that are members of the Council of Europe. The entrants have to write a piece of max 1,200 characters in any European language, accompanied by a translation into English. The deadline for submission of the articles is March 21st 2006. Six judges will select the best three articles. The authors will be invited to Brussels in April 2006. In addition, the winner will go on a two weeks’ journey to Kenya in summer 2006, to see with his eyes the local situation and the work carried out by the social agencies. The runners-up will be published on the Catholic media, publications regarding migraion, NGOs and the national press. For information and entry: www.jrseurope.org
