PORTUGAL: FROM TOMORROW IN FATIMA THE CEREMONY FOR THE 90TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE APPARITIONS

The ceremonies for the "October commemoration" (due until 13th) will open tomorrow in Fatima as part of the year of celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Apparitions; this year, the celebrations will be held by the new bishop of Leiria-Fatima, mgr. Antonio Marto, and according to estimates will be attended by thousands of pilgrims. "I will not condemn you, go and do not sin again" is the topic of the pilgrimage which will officially start tomorrow at 6.30 pm in the so-called "Little chapel of the Apparitions". The blessing of the candles will take place three hours later, followed by the Rosary, the procession and the celebration of the Eucharist from the altar of the enclosure of the Sanctuary. After the night vigil, the ceremonies will be resumed on Friday 13th at 10 am with the procession of the statue of the Virgin of Fatima, the Eucharist and the blessing of the sick. The celebrations for the 90th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin to the three little shepherds between May 13th and October 13th 1917, which will last until October 13th 2007, will include the opening of the new Church of the Most Holy Trinity, currently under construction. Mgr. Marto announced he will ask Pope Benedict XVI to personally consecrate it.
