POLAND: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15TH, IS THE “VI PAPAL DAY” DEDICATED TO JOHN PAUL II

“Not only was John Paul II the spokesman of truth about mercy. He himself became the real servant of mercy”. The Polish bishops presented in that way the VI Papal Day, which would take place on October 15th, just before the 28th anniversary of the appointment of Karol Wojtyla as holder of St. Peter’s throne. The theme of the Day will be “John Paul II, servant of mercy. “The slogan of the Papal Day is no coincidence”, wrote the bishops, according to whom “human dignity is threatened by lack of merciful love”. According to the Polish Church, “the contemporary man faces two threats: temptation of full independence from God, that is, blindness with respect to His merciful love, and selfishness, that is, indifference toward the neighbour”.
