ITALY: ECCLESIAL MEETING; BENEDICT XVI, "IN THIS TIME OF OURS, EVIL HAS NOT BEEN WON AT ALL"” “” “

” ” ” “"In this time of ours, despite all the progress made, evil has not been won at all", actually "its power seems to have got stronger": this was said by Benedict XVI in his speech to the delegates of the Meeting of Verona. "The human being is not just reason and intelligence – he explained -. The human being brings within itself, inscribed at the bottom of its being, the need of love, of loving and being loved. So it questions itself and often gets lost in front of the hardships of life, the evil that exists in the world and that looks so strong and at the same time completely meaningless". In particular at this time of ours, commented the Pope, "despite all the progress made, evil has not been won at all; actually, its power seems to have got stronger, and all the attempts to hide it are soon exposed, as is proven by daily experience and by major historical events. So the nagging question comes up again, whether in our life there can be a safe space for genuine love and ultimately whether the world is really the fruit of God’s wisdom".
