BENEDICT XVI AT ANGELUS: OCTOBER, THE MONTH OF THE "ROSARY" AND OF "COMMITMENT TO MISSIONS"

” “"Saying the Rosary and commitment to missions" are the "two aspects" that in the church community mark the month of October: it was recalled yesterday morning by Benedict XVI, before he led the Angelus prayer from Castel Gandolfo. October 7th is "the feast of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary, and it is as if every year the Virgin invited us to rediscover the beauty of this prayer, which is so simple yet so deep". Then the Pope mentioned the "beloved John Paul II", "the great apostle of the Rosary": "We recall him – said Benedict XVI – kneeling down, the beads in his hands, engrossed in the contemplation of Christ as he himself invited us to do in his apostolic letter Rosarium Virginis Mariae". The Rosary, explained the Pope, is "a contemplative and Christocentric prayer, inseparable from the meditation of the Scriptures". Hence the invitation "to say the Rosary during this month at home, in the communities and in the parishes for the Pope’s intentions, the mission of the Church and peace in the world".
