EPISCOPAL SYNOD: THE SCHEDULE OF THE LINEAMENTA FOR THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF 2008

” “God’s Word "in the liturgy, in preaching, in the catechesis, in theology, in spirituality, in the lectio divina, in private reading, in enculturation, in ecumenism” has been, reads a release published today by the newsroom of the Holy See, the focus of the fourth meeting of the XI Ordinary Council of the Secretariat General of the Episcopal Synod, which took place on 10th and 11th October in the Vatican. The institutional purpose of the Council is to draw up the “Lineamenta” as a document for reflection and consultation for the universal Church in the run-up to the XII Ordinary General Assembly of the Episcopal Synod, planned by Benedict XVI for 5th to 16th October 2008 about "God’s Word in the life and mission of the Church". After making reference to the Constitution “Dei Verbum”, the bishops highlighted the importance of the “Catechism of the Catholic Church". Two study groups, for English and Italian, respectively, have developed two general schedules of the “Lineamenta” which have been gathered into a first synthesis. In the next meeting planned for 24th and 25th January 2007, the Ordinary Council will review and approve the final text.” “
