PLENARY MEETING OF CCEE: MGR. GRAB, THE COMMITMENT OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH "TO PERSUADING THE GOVERNMENTS TO LOOK TO THE WORLD’S COMMON GOOD"

” “Finally, as he spoke of the future, mgr. Amédéè Grab, president of Ccee, expressed the wish that "the Catholic Church will be able to play its role in persuading the governments to look to the common good all over the world without limiting their commitment to their own nations or turning Europe into a ‘fortress’. We need the skills and the commitment of Catholics who know the world of finance and business, if we want this to be more than wishful thinking or empty statements". Mgr. Grab, at the end of his office as president of Ccee, then said "one cannot think that Ccee can take action in these spheres without Comece (Commission of the EU Bishops Conferences)". According to the prelate, "this is the time to redefine the relations between these two bodies", by increasing cooperation between the Bishops Conferences, without letting these bodies becoming exceedingly big. Finally, mgr. Grab said he hopes "Ccee will contribute to the formation of the Church on Europe as a community of believers that contemplate and reflect Christ’s face".” “
