The vote on the Service Directive, which aims at deregulating the industry; the Gaza issue; the fight against the trade of human beings and against gambling; the future of the "milk quotas". These are some of the points which are high on the agenda of the plenary session of the EU Parliament, which takes place in Strasbourg from today to November 16th. As well as work on the floor, the commission will also gather to tackle the issue of the new directive on "TV without frontiers" and the proposed reform of the common organization of the wine market. The session is going to be opened today afternoon by a statement of the Commission on the "weakness of the European electric grid". "The power outings that have left ten million Europeans in the dark are unacceptable", reads a release from the EU Parliament, which takes its cue from a statement of the Energy Commissioner, Andris Piebalgs. The president of the EU Executive Committee, José Manuel Barroso, will be on the floor tomorrow to present to Parliament the plan of the Commission’s work for 2007, the year of the accession of Romania and Bulgaria, the celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of European integration and the debate on the future of the EU Constitution.
