A meeting in Tripoli between the European Union and many African countries as well as several international organisations, to address the subject of migration. The meeting has been planned for 22nd and 23rd November and "will provide an opportunity explains a note from the EU Commission for Europe and Africa to work side by side in a climate of mutual cooperation and shared responsibility for a more effective management of migration". The conference is part of the EU "global strategy" for migration "aimed at reconciling the interests and priorities of the countries of origin, transit and destination, as well as those of migrants, by boosting partnerships with the third countries" and "incorporating the different related issues, such as good government, human rights and development policies". The EU will be represented in Tripoli by the deputy president of the EU Executive, Franco Frattini, commissioner for justice, freedom and security, and Louis Michel, commissioner for development policies and humanitarian aids. The subject of migration had already been addressed on a few occasions by the EU last year, at the European Council of December 2005, through the adoption of the document "A global approach to migration". The Commission is expected to issue a new document by 30th November.
