BenedICT xvi: THE FIRST PART OF THE BOOK WRITTEN BY THE POPE, "Gesù di nazaret", OUT IN SPRING 2007

” “"Benedict XVI has finished writing the first part of a book called Gesù di Nazareth. Dal Battesimo nel Giordano alla Trasfigurazione (Jesus of Nazareth. From His baptism in the Jordan to His Transfiguration) and has delivered it to the Vatican publishing house". This was reported today, in a press release, by the Newsroom of the Holy See. The book consists of two parts, the first one of which will be published in Spring 2007 by Rizzoli, to which the Vatican publishing house (Lev) transferred all rights for translation, distribution and sales all over the world, "a tangible sign of gratitude – says a note from Lev – for what Rizzoli has done over the years to spread the work of the beloved servant of God, John Paul II". With a work that "is nothing like a teaching work, but merely the expression of my personal quest for the face of the Lord", writes Benedict XVI in the introduction to the book, "I wanted to try and present the Jesus of the Gospels as the true Jesus, as the historical Jesus in the true sense of the word". "Jesus’ lesson – recalls the Pontiff in the introduction – does not come from human learning, whatever it may be. It comes from an immediate contact with the Father, from face-to-face dialogue, from seeing what is in the heart of the Father. It is the Son’s Word. Without this inner foundation, it would be rashness".” “
