FRANCE: SOCIAL WEEKS; CADMESSUS, “MAKING OUR COUNTRY FAIRER”

” “”How to make our country fairer and give it back the dynamism it needs to effectively carry out" its fight against injustice "in Europe and in the world?”. This, explains Michel Camdessus, president of the Social Weeks of France, is the basic question that will be the focus of the 81st session of the SSF, due in Paris-La Défense from 24th to 26th November on "What is a fair society?” “Injustice is everywhere – explains Cadmessus – clear and rampant: it is one of the key problems of our society" to which we have to find answers, "starting from an objective analysis of its dimensions, its mechanisms and the lack of institutional rules on which it is based”. According to the president, the subject is more topical than ever, "what with our latest meeting and the presidential election of next spring”. The starting point of the meeting, "the reflections already developed by the participants and our regional antennas” (lay associations that keep in contact all over the territory with the Social Weeks and meet at regular intervals with their Board). Economists, philosophers, sociologists, theologians and other figures from the cultural world will be involved in conferences and debates. The meeting will be closed, in the afternoon of Sunday 26th, by the Eucharistic celebration officiated by mgr. Gérard Daucourt, bishop of Nanterre. ” “
