SWITZERLAND: VOCATIONS, IN THE RUN-UP TO THE EUROPEAN CONGRESS IN CROATIA

Over 1200 files handed out in the parish churches; 32 thousand prayer leaflets sent out; over 2,500 contacts a month on the website www.vocations.ch: these are the figures of the two "Vocation Years 2005-2006″ which are going to end on November 26th. Promoted by the Swiss Bishops Conference (Ces), with 2005 focussed on priests and 2006 on the baptised, respectively, they "have offered – reads a release from the Swiss French Vocation Centre (Crv,) based in Lausanne, which developed them – the opportunity of reviving the pastoral of vocations”. “Every pastoral is vocation", says in the release the abbot Dominique Rimaz, coordinator of Crv and vice-coordinator of vocations in Europe, as he highlighted the space given to permanent deaconship, religious life, the Christian commitment of lay people and family life. Family will be the subject of the next European congress on vocations, to be held in Zara (Croatia) in June 2007.
