An appeal to take part in the administrative elections which are taking place in Poland on Sunday: Msgr. Piotr Libera addressed it to the believers. Piotr Libera is the secretary general of the Polish Bishops’ Conference and auxiliary bishop of Katowice. The appeal was made since the population seemed scarcely interested in the elections. The bishop said: "We must assume responsibility for our municipalities, our provinces, our regions and our towns: if we give up our right of voting today, then we will not be able to complain any longer". In these days, similar admonishments are coming from several pastors in Polish dioceses. Next Sunday, 30.5 million Poles will have to vote for about 2,500 municipality councils, 350 provincial councils, and 16 regional councils, as well as for the presidents of regions, provinces and municipalities, including the mayors and the presidents of large cities. However, according to recent surveys, one third of the electors hasn’t chosen its candidate, yet, and hasn’t decided whether going to the polls or not.
