BENEDICT XVI: CATECHESIS; "NO IDOL MUST CONTAMINATE OUR SPIRITUAL UNIVERSE" (3)

” “In our daily life, urged the Pope, we must follow the example of Paul, "who always followed this great spiritual inspiration throughout his life". "Faith must keep us in a steady attitude of humbleness in front of God – he highlighted – actually one a adoration and praise to Him. Actually, what we are as Christians, we owe it to Him only and to His grace, since nothing and nobody can replace Him. So, we must not pay the homage we pay to Him to anyone else. No idol must contaminate our spiritual universe, otherwise, instead of enjoying our acquired freedom, we would fall back into a form of humiliating slavery". In addition, he went on, "our deep belonging to Christ, that fact we are in Him, must infuse us with an attitude of total trust and immense joy". "So let’s face our life – concluded the Pope – with its joys and its pains, supported by these great feelings that Paul offers us; by experiencing them, we will be able to understand how true is what the Apostle himself wrote".” “
