The Russian Bishops Conference will have its own website from December 25th: cecr.ru (the short for Conferentia Episcoporum Catholicorum Russiae). The contents of the website will be developed by all the dioceses of both the European and Asian regions of Russia. The website will give access to the other web pages of the Catholic Church all over the territory of the former Soviet Union. The idea of the website was born three years ago, but works did not begin until last June on the initiative of the apostolic nunciature in Russia. The project is directed by rev. Andrzej Obuchowski, from Bijak, Siberia, editor-in-chief of the local Catholic paper, published for the faithful who live in the Asian regions of Russia. The editor of the website is the secretary of the Russian Bishops Conference, Igor Kowalewski. The spokesman of the Polish Bishops Conference, Józef Kloch, is a consultant for the project.
