"Time is running out", the urgency of the dialogue between the Orthodox and the Catholic Churches is all in this sentence. It was uttered by the archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Christodoulos, who last night began a four-day visit in Rome, the highlight of which will be this morning’s meeting with Benedict XVI and the signing of a common declaration. "Through history, the relations between our Churches have not been the best or have failed to show what Christian love was asking for", said Christodoulos, who also recalled "the path of the last 40 years of mutual understanding, reconciliation and pacification" that "the Church of Greece fully supports, as it considers it an excellent contribution to the issue of the unity of Christians".
