BENEDICT XVI AT ANGELUS: A THOUGHT FOR THE "IRAQI REFUGEES IN SYRIA"

"My thought goes to the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi refugees in Syria, forced to leave their country by the dramatic situation that is going on over there". It was said yesterday morning by Benedict XVI, after officiating the Angelus from Saint Peter’s Square. "The Caritas of Syria – he added – is already working for them; however, I would like to raise the awareness of the private people, the international organisations and the Governments, that further efforts be made to try to cater to their most pressing needs". "I raise to the Lord my prayer – went on the Holy Father – that He may comfort these brothers and sisters and stir many people’s hearts to generosity".
