HOLY LAND: FROM THE HEADS OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCHES, A MESSAGE TO HAMAS

The passage from the Gospel about the Beatitudes to the members and the heads of Hamas. It is the message that the patriarchs and the heads of the Christian Churches of Jerusalem sent to the winners of the recent Palestinian elections. "Blessed be the operators of peace because they will be called sons of God" write the Christian leaders of Jerusalem who, in their message released last night, did not fail to express to all the Palestinians their "respect and support to the people’s will" and congratulations on the "democratic ‘perfomance’" they gave in voting. "As Christian leaders – reads the document – our message at this new stage of our history is that of faith and our attention to everybody. Someone could be worried or fearful at this time, but we reply with the words of Christ: ‘your heart fear not; here, I give you my peace, that peace the world cannot give’. And again, ‘be strong and firm’. We ask the Palestinians to keep giving their contribution to the building of their history, regardless of any internal or external problem". "We pray for those who will be ruling at this difficult time and we give them our support for the good of everyone, to achieve the national aspirations of Palestine along with the cause of justice and peace to be reached in a non violent way, for the role of the law along with full religious freedom, especially in the social area of education". "We pray God, may He guide us to what is good for everyone, both Palestinians and Israelis, whether Christian, Muslim or Jewish".
