SPORT: SKIING, TWO BISHOPS AT THE RACE. INNSBRUCK PRIESTS ARE THE WINNERS

Skis at the feet of the bishops of Bolzano and Innsbruck, who yesterday took part in the traditional Diocesan Day on the Snow in the ski resort of S. Martino di Sarentino. The winner of the sleigh race, for the "bishops" category, was mgr. Manfred Scheuer, bishop of Innsbruck, followed by mgr. Wilhelm Egger, bishop of Bolzano-Bressanone. The winners of the giant slalom, sleigh and cross-country skiing races were the priests of Innsbruck. Despite poor visibility, due to the fog, the priests and religious of the dioceses of Bolzano-Bressanone, Trento and Innsbruck still obtained good results. The fastest skier was the Franciscan father Jakob Wegscheiderer from Lienz. The director of the seminar of Innsbruck, father Peter Fernet, won the sleigh race. Sister Renate Koppenberger from Merano was the fastest woman in both the ski and sleigh races. Another Austrian winner, including the classical-style cross-country race: father Georg Schödl. Bishop Egger came 7th. The winner of the free-style cross-country race was the parish priest of Plata, father Siegfried Pfitscher.
