HOLY SEE: THE VATICAN RADIO STATION TURNS 75.

” “Engaged for 75 years in “spreading the voice and teachings of the Roman Pontiff, informing about the activity of the Holy See, becoming the echo of Catholic life all over the world “, the Vatican radio station “feels young”. A multicultural mission which “remains very ‘of the moment'”, carried out in over 40 languages, “reflecting the universal nature of the Church, its respect for cultures, its will of inculturation of the evangelical message”. At a press conference promoted to celebrate this anniversary, the manager stated that RV (The Vatican radio station) “is historical by nature, a determined opponent of every cultural colonialism and a supporter of the variety of cultural traditions within the Church and, by mission and by tradition, it is particularly busy supporting Churches that are in distress because they are small minorities or have no freedom”. In this respect, “radio” remains a “viable” medium anywhere, and in some parts of the world “it is definitely the medium that can offer the most widespread and effective penetration ever, and certainly toay it must be set in the wider context of modern social communication, in which several media integrate and supplement each other: above all, radios – the Internet – TV”.
