BIOETHICS: BENEDICT XVI, ABOUT LIFE "MOVE BEYOND" SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, TOWARDS "TRUTH" AND "TRANSCENDENCY"

” “"Beyond the boundaries of experimental methods, where sensory perception or scientific testing alone are no longer sufficient or are impossible, it’s there that begins the adventure of transcendency, the commitment to move beyond". Such "boundary" was pointed out to life researchers and experts by the Pope, today, as he received in audience the participants in the International Conference, "Human embryo at pre-impiantation", where he wished them to be able "more and more often not just to look at the reality which the subject of your efforts, but also to contemplate it in such a way that, along with your discoveries, you also raise the questions that lead to discover the reflection of the Maker in the beauty of creatures". That of the embryo, said the Pope as he referred to the topic of the Assembly of the Papal Academy for Life, "is an extremely important subject today, due to its clear repercussions of philosophical-anthropological and ethical reflection, and due to its potential applications to biomedical and legal sciences". "We have hugely improved our knowledge and better identified the limits of our ignorance", but "for human intelligence it seems it has become too difficult to realise that, as we look at the creation, we find the imprint of the Maker". "He who loves the truth", is the Pope’s invitation to the experts, "should sense that research into such deep subjects puts us in the position to see and almost to touch God’s hand".” “
