BIOETHICS: BENEDICT XVI, EVEN IN THE EMBRYO "SINCE THE START OF LIFE" "SHINES A REFLECTION OF GOD’S REALITY"

"In man, in every man, at any stage or condition of man’s life, shines a reflection of God’s reality". A "moral judgement", this one, that "applies since the very start of the life of an embryo, even before it has taken root in its mother’s womb, which will take care of and feed it for nine months, through to its birth". This powerful message about God’s love for man "boundless and nearly impossible to understand" was given by the Pope today, as he received in audience the participants in the International Conference on "Human embryo at pre-implantation" which opened in the Vatican today (to last until tomorrow) on the occasion of the General Assembly of the Papal Academy for Life. "God’s love – began Benedict XVI – makes no difference between the just-conceived being that is still in its mother’s womb, and the infant or child or man or old man", because "in all of them, He sees the imprint of His own image and resemblance" and "in all of them, He sees a reflection of the face of His Only-Begotten Son". "God’s love for man, which is boundless and nearly impossible to understand – continued the Holy Father – shows to what extent the human being is worthy of being loved in itself, regardless of any other consideration". "Human life is always good", insisted the Pope, highlighting that "the magisterium of the Church has constantly proclaimed the sacred and inviolable character of every human life, from its conception through to its natural end".
